Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: I chose this property as I planned to visit (and did visit) the Natzweiller-Struthof Nazi concentration camp near by, the only one on French soil, although Alsace was illegally annexed by Germany after the fall of France. The owners, three couples I’m told, purchased the place and took it over on June 1. The people are met were very nice and helpful. So the location for me was primary. I was also appreciative that they did my very small laundry. It was fairly pricey, but that’s the situation in hotels also. It saved me a lot of hand washing so I was pleased.

Negative: My main issue was that I didn’t really have enough heat in my room. One of the owners explained to me that it was between seasons, and that the full heat had not yet been turned on. I like sleeping in a cool room, but before bed, I like it warm and it was not warm. Also, these folks are extremely vegetarian. I’m not a bit meat eater, but I did not thing the vegetarian meal, as served, was that good for someone who is not a strict vegetarian. For example, no eggs in the morning at breakfast either. If I had to do it again I would have taken a miss on dinner, and either brought a small thing in with me or just skipped it entirely. But other than those issues, it’s a nice property. I would recommend it for anyone planning to visit the Natzweiller camp memorial.
